Is Thinning Of Skull On A CT Scan Indicative Of Cancer?

My allergy immunology doctor ordered a scan of my head last week given my sinus issues and relayed to my PCP that there is a thinning of my skull and wants me to get a CT scan which I am working on with my PCP. Could this be indicative of cancer? I ask this because my doctor noted that issues such as these are often not cancerous. I think he may have said more than he intended to but I am concerned. Of course it is the weekend and I can t reach him.

Hi,

It depends on the pattern of thinning. If it is a localized irregular spot yes, if it is all over thinning, well, maybe but osteoporosis is far far more common.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
