70 year old female prescribed amlodipine 10 mg added to current medications for high blood pressure (atenolol 100 mg, lisinopril/hydrochlorthiazide 20-12.5mg) following treatment at local clinic for poison ivy treatment with steroids. The clinic recommended a follow up visit to the family doctor for 192/95 reading at the clinic prior to the steroid treatment). The family doctor prescribed the above amlodipine to be added because the blood pressure reading was similar to the clinic reading. Other medications are as follows: levothyroxine 75 mcg, simvastatin 40 mg, and prevent 10 mg, over the counter . The two questions I have are:1. Should the simvastatin dose be less than 20 mg while on amlodipine?2. Does the Prevagen (calcium binding protein) affect the Amlodipine (calcium channel blocker) in any way?
