Is This Prescribed Duration Of Femilon Intake Safe To Treat PCOD?

Doctor my daughter is 19 years old and she is advised by the doctor to take femilon for 6 months as she is having poly cist. my question is is this safe to take the femilon for six months? Last month we took scan and there is no poly cist but doctor advised her to take for six months. my worry is is this safe to take for six months as now she does not have poly cist at all

Yes intake of a combined hormone pill like Femilon is safe to treat PCOD. Femilon contraceptive pill contains Ethinyl Estradiol and Desogestrel in a very small dose. It is commonly prescribed in females suffering from pily cystic ovarian syndrome(Pcos) to regulate the cycles.
These pills should be taken once daily at same time for 21 days & then stopped for 7 days. During the stoppage of the pill withdrawal bleeding would occur & then start taking pill after the 7 day gap.
In many cases of polycystic ovary diseases the size of cysts are small to be diagnosed by an ultrasound. You need not to worry as femilon contains female sex hormone in a very small quantity so that theywould not be harmful even if taken for years.

Your daughter should take femilon as directed by your gynaecologist
