Is Thought Blocking Like Forgetting Birthday Sign Of Schizophrenia?

I was meeting with a patient and completing an assessment. After I would ask them a question, the patient would pause between 5-10 seconds, then struggle to answer the question as if they did not know or understand. These questions were their birthday, how many kids do they have, address, and more. What is this behavior called? Could it be thought blocking? This behavior was during the entire interview.

it may be part of negative symptoms of schizophrenia
thought block is also part of it


sometimes there is progressive cognitive decline with long duration of illness
now a days cognitive deficit is main concern for treatment

complete assessment and psychological evaluation needed by psychiatrist

only forgetting birthday does nt mean he has schizophrenia

there are some other memory problem related issues

so need proper evaluation
if it is episodic than no need to worry
but it is in all area and progressive than need proper treatment
