I am pregnant from more than one month my thyroid level is 5.26 it is harmful should I take the medicine of thyroid ? or am I suffering from thyroid ? can there be side effect of medicine and usg showing no development of fetus I am worried plz help me thanks
1. As per American Thyroid Association reference range for TSH in all the 3 trimester should not above 3.00 uIU/ml and since your level are above the reference range [probably hyothyroidism] you should contact Gynecologist Doctor for further management of the disease. 2. Since if left untreated it may cause miscarriage, preeclampsia, abruption placenta, postpartum hemorrhage in mother and premature birth, low birth weight, respiratory disorder, impaired brain development in fetus
3. treatment with Levothyroxine is the choice, doses of which are gradually increased until TSH levels returns back to normal along with prenatal vitamins
4. no development of fetus could be anembryoic pregnancy meaning that fetus was never really formed and could be a indication of early abortion, and if diagnosis is confirmed please get a medical/surgical termination done.
