Is Thyroid Scan Required For Neck Pain Below Adam's Apple?
I have a pain for the last few days on the right side of my neck, a little below the adam's apple. I can feel a very slight bulge and it pains when I press it. The doc I met asked me to do a thyroid scan. Should I? Or simply get my blood test done. There is no history of thyroid in my family. I am 46 yrs old and am an Indian male.

Very probably it is a thyroid nodule, but the first examination to confirm it, is a thyroid ultrasound.
It does not have any radiation and gives important information regarding to the nodule.
After thyroid ultrasound the physician decides if it is necessary to do further examinations.
