Is Travelling Safe When Diagnosed With A Broken Distal Fibula?

Hello I have brake in my distal fibula , nondisplaced. I have a trip planned to India in another week which will make it just two and a half weeks since it has happened. I have not been weight baring at all. My question is am I being ambitious going on the trip. I am a very healthy and fit 48 yr old woman. I can take blood thinners for the plane but I m worried about walking around because I don t want to take crutches.

Hello,

Fracture in distal fibula needs to be managed with a cast for immobilization. You can move about with a cast on, however, the fracture site should be kept immobilized.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
