Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had 3 C-sections, and got a tubal ligation during my last cesarean. Since then my ex-husband and I are now divorced. I am seeing someone new, and we have talked about in the future having one child of our own. My dr during my C-section said something along the lines of, once I do this its permanent are you sure . I was quite forced into the option of doing it and my ex answered for me telling him to do the ligation (I was quite out of it). I have read about tubal ligation reversal but am nervous with the comment my dr made during surgery. How can I find out if this is something I will be able to do?
Since your tubes are ligated but you are planning for a baby with your new husband, you can get pregnant by IVF (in vitro fertilization). Yes, tubal ligation reversible surgery is possible. Success rate (40-85%) varies from women to women depending on their age and medical condition. It may take 2 weeks for full recovery after surgery. Conception commonly occurs in the first year after reversible surgery.
Avoid addictions (smoking, alcohol, etc) if any. Stay away from anxiety and stress. If obese, do away with those extra pounds and maintain healthy weight. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a gynecologist, get all routine tests done. You may need some treatment for ovulation, etc. to assist you conceive at the earliest.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
