Is Using Hydrocortisone And Cloderm Advisable For Chicken Pox?

hi doctori m bassam,i have duagther ,has chicken pox ,7 years old ,the rashes is beginning appear in her skin (back,chest, and little a bit in face)i have three creams ,which one is good for this condition1-hydrocortisone 2-cloderm cream 3-zarin cream.thank you

Hi & Welcome.
These medications are not advisable to treat rash in children.

Hydrocortisone and Cloderm contain steroids which may cause harmful effects if used in the treatment of chickenpox rashes.

For the symptomatic relief of rash you can give her cool wet compresses or give baths in cool or lukewarm water every 3 to 4 hours for the first few days.
Calamine lotion can be applied on itchy areas of the skin except around the eyes.

If itching does not subside, she may be given an antihistamine medication like Cetrizine or Loratidine.

The antiviral medication Acyclovir can be given within the the first 24 hours after the rash starts after consulting a doctor.

Zarin (Miconazole) Cream is used to treat fungal infection of the skin or vagina, it is not helpful in relieving the itchy rashes of chickenpox.
