Is Using Inhaler By A Toddler For Recurring Cold And Cough Safe?

Hello Dr, My kid 3 years old has been frequently dx with cold and cough from last 3 months. Recently yesterday we met new doctor who has prescribed asthaline inhaler and 2 puffs x 3 times x 5 days and budecort 200 inhaler 2 puffs x 2 times x to be continued... She is also taking Ventorlin syrup from last 5 days, tab omnacortil 10 mg and allegra We are doubting about inhaler if it is safe for our kid ? can you please suggest

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your toddler have symptoms of recurring cold and cough which seems to be due to severe upper respiratory tract infection and due to recurrent viral infections.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to follow instructions as suggested as inhalation is safe and is purely guided. Consult paediatrician again and go for blood test, x ray of the chest, throat swab test, and Immunoglobulin G levels monitored to detect level of infection and star treatment accordingly. For now give child proper rest and monitor symptoms and effect of treatment. Give child plenty of fluids and avoid giving any outside food. Give diet rich in vitamin C and medications as prescribed.
