Hi there,
I understand your worry, and the bleeding does seem to be lasting longer than usual. You might have had an
incomplete abortion, which means that there is still some tissue leftover in the
uterus. Get yourself to your local doctor's, and I would suggest being honest. However, if you choose not to tell them the full story, just say that you thought that you were pregnant and spontaneously miscarried, or you could just say you're not sure why you've been bleeding for so long. At this point they won't be able to tell the difference.
It is important that you let them have an
ultrasound done to make sure that the abortion is complete. Otherwise, your bleeding might get heavier, or an infection might set in. If there has been no other complications, there should be no long term effects, and you should not have problems conceiving again later on.
Hope this helps, and please do let us know if you have further questions.
Regards,
Dr. Teh
