Is Varicose Veins, Curable With Compression Stockings Or Surgery Required?

I have varicose veins, should i really be operated
doctor advised me to do surgery,another doctor advised me to wear compression stockings
But compression stockings made the condition worse,so i stopped using it
Please suggest can i live with these varicose veins without surgery or compression stockings
