Is Vegetarian Diet Ideal For G6PD Patients?

I have an 18 year old son who has g6pd. He was diagnosed at birth. We have avoided fava beans, the medications, and mothballs. In the last three years he has been a vegetarian. We have been cooking with legumes (not fava beans though). However I am a little concerned as I have been doing some research and it now seems that all legumes are out... I just want to make sure he has a diet that will keep him healthy,,,Is vegetarian diet suitable?

Hi,
Thanks for asking.
Based on your query, my opinion is as follows.
1. Vegetarian diet should be adequate.
2. Check haemoglobin levels, it should be normal. However, I would advise you to include nutritional supplements or eggs in diet.
3. Avoid specifically fava beans. Other legumes, would not affect. Not to worry.
Hope it helps.
Any further queries, happy to help again.
