Is Video-assisted Thoracoscopic Surgery Safe For The Treatment Of Pneumothorax?

My brother was told to have Pneumothorax by doctor in our local hospital. He was adviced by the docoter to do a Video-assisted thoracoscopic surgery. I am doubt about it. Is it really a must to do? He is 25 years old, male, tall but a little bit thin. Normally healthy.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

We have to rule out causes for pneumothorax.

Consult a thoracic surgeon and get evaluated.

If required, video-assisted surgery is the best option.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain,
General & Family Physician
