Is Walking Up And Down Hill Beneficial In Case Of Slipped Disc?

I was diagnosed yesterday with a slipped disc. L5.

I have recently bought a horse, who also has a bad back and needs working from the ground. Would walking up and down hills also be good for me? If so I will lead him out and help us both at the same time
