Is Wine And Coffee Together Contraindicated?

Last night I had to glasses of red wine and then 2 cups of caffeinated coffee. Tossed and turned all night with a rapid heart beat and could not sleep. Also had clamy feet and hands, short of breath and dizzy. Started feeling better but when I laid down for a nap it all came back again.

Aesthetically, coffee and red wine to not mix at all.

Both the wine and the coffee can be dehydrating. Alcohol at low to moderate doses lowers inhibitory effects of the nervous system and often has a paradoxical stimulating effect. This would interact with the caffeine to give an hyperactive effect.
These all wear off pretty quickly (few hours at worst).
