Is Wisdom Teeth Removal Safe After Alcoholic Consumption?
I was drinking alcohol , not too much, just got a little buzzed & I stopped drinking around 5:30 am Sunday. I have an appointment to have my wisdom teeth taken out Monday morning at 9 am. Is this safe since it is still more than a 24 hour deference ?
Understanding your concern . As per you query you want to get wisdom teeth removal safely but you had alcohol consumption. As removal of wisdom tooth surgery including trauma like bone cutting and soft tissue injury , so is lot of bleeding take place during the surgery . Alcohol usually when taken before surgery can act bad . Because alcohol has its effects on liver which produce protein which are very important in blood clotting . So consumption of alcohol can lead to excessive bleeding , which further complicate the surgical procedure . Apart from that alcohol consumption before surgery can decrease the effect of anesthesia . so more anesthesia has to be administered which sometimes not good for body . So i would suggest you to discuss your condition with your surgeon and try to avoid surgery on the same day . Doctor may give another date .
Hope your concern has been resolved. Dr. Harry Maheshwari
