Is X-ray Required For Swelling In Toe?

Hi, My son has osteogenesis imperfecta and hypermobile joints. On Sunday evening he bent his big toe out of joint quite badly. It is slightly swollen and bruised but he cant put any weight on it and is complaining constantly about the pain. He has broken other toes (not the big one) and has bounced back quite quickly, he also heals very rapidly. Is it worth getting it x rayed?
