I was pregnant with twins up until a week ago, I lost one about a week ago. i am 15 week pregnant and the other baby seems to be doing fine, but i have been having a lot of mucus discharge and it is really me nervous. what could that be from? the discharge is either yellow or brownish.

Hello and thank you for the question.

I am so sorry about your loss! With the loss of one of the twins so early, there is probably a small amount of bleeding around that baby's sac. This can often make its way out of the cervix as a brownish discharge - this is what old blood looks like. I would not be too concerned unless there is bright red bleeding and/or significant cramping. It is likely that by 20 weeks, when you are due for a full screening anatomy scan, there will be little sign of the miscarried twin. Again, I am sorry about your loss, but you can be reassured that it will likely still be a normal pregnancy otherwise.

I hope that this helps and good luck!
