Is Yellow/brown Crust In Ear Sign Of Infection?

I have a hole in my ear drum. I got water in my ear the other day and now everyday when I wake up I have a yellow/brown crust in my ear. Do you think it's just the water draining out or is it an infection because it does hurt but somethimes my ear just hurts because of the hole
