Itching And Burning In The Genitals. HPV Diagnosed. How Did I Get It?

i went to my obgyn because i have burning and itching and he told me that my pap test came back that i have hpv i have only had one partner for 3 years and i never had sex with anyone else besides him nor have i had these symptoms before is it possible that i had it all along or that he was unfaithful and that is how i got it ?

Hi and welcome to HCM.
It could have been trasnmissed 3 years ago and virus could have been in inactivated form till now. Also there is a possiblity for transmission by contact(hands, lips). more important then how did you get it is the evaluation of HPV changes on cervix. Now, just do frequent check ups and biospy if needed.
