Itching Of Idiopathic Origin, Severely Sun Burnt, Dryness And Swelling. What Are The Different Treatments Available?

I have intracable itch of idiopathic orgin, persisting for 2-1/2 years. I have yet another appt. with perhaps the ninth doc coming up. Have been treated with many different ointments, systemics, light treatments. It occasionally was alleviated, but never went away. I an tired of being itchy every day of my life. Skin looks like severe sunburn, very dry in spite of heavy use of Cerave, lubriderm, etc. Arms and legs also swollen.

Hi and thanks for the query,
It s important to also check for tropical diseases like Onchocerciasis/filaria worms in case you have been visiting regions of the tropical regions like in Africa. Out of that, systemic diseases like Sarcoidosis and some malignancies could present themselves with itches. In case no other signs related to allergy have been noticed, a more systemic in depth investigation should be done. Taking anti histamines for a periods of one month intermittently could produce a better life free of itches. The opinion of an internist and an allergist should be sought. Thanks and kind regards
