Itchy And Scaly Lips, Red Around The Borders, Blisters, Peels. Reason?

For about two years now off and on ( but mostly on) my lips, primarily my bottom lip, has been extremely itchy, red around the boarders, and scaley. It's not so much in the corners of my mouth. Certain foods and when I get upset really seem to set it off and I will get little blisters that sometimes in recent days will ooze a little. But they don't last. My bottom lips peels all the time even down onto the skin directly below my lip on one side. It doesnt seem to be contagious.It responds to pred and I only use vasaline to moisturize. My dermatologist has referred me to an allergist.

Hello,
Thanks for the query,

You might have developed a condition called as perioral dermatitis.

It is an an allergic reaction to it,

Apply a mild steroid cream like mometasone,

Also take an antihistamine tablet.

This will give you some relief.

In few people it can even happen due to lip smacking.

Hope you dont do that.

Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis.
