Hi and thanks for question,
Jaw tenderness around that area could imply lots of things. First, it could be a chronic inflammation, and a rare type of
rheumatoid arthritis dpoes actually presents as such. Doing an a
Rheumatoid factor dosage, ESR, CRP,
Complete blood count, HLA27 could be good guides in excluding this diagnosis and other autoimmune diseases.
Secondly, depending on your dental history, this could also be an indication of an early stage of a
bone infection or osteomyelitis. Its not that rare, and most of the time is discovered in the chronic phase. A tumoor of the ENT sphere, due to compression of nerves or blood vessels could produce such a symptomatology. A Head CT scan is most appropriate in eliminating a tumour. These are conditions that are not that very rare.
I suggest you could start with taking an appointment with an
ENT specialist for a proper evaluation .
Thanks for your questions and best of health.
Best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
