Lab Results Of High Red Blood Cell Count And Hemoglobin In Urine

Lab results of high red blood cell count and hemoglobin in urine My brother in law just got some lab results today for life insurance. His results came back with everything normal except for two- hemoglobin in urine and a high red blood cell count, the cell count was "too high to count". What kind of issues are we looking at?

Hi. Do you mean hemoglobin or 2 RBC's.. High red blood cell count can occur due to kidney dysfunctions, low oxygenation, bone marrow dysfunctions, as a part of other illness.. These conditions can be determined by evaluation..

Welcome to HCM. Lab results of red blood cell count two is a usually normal as 2-3 or 3-4 are normal. But when you say it is too high to count means due to infections or due to calculus or kidney problems. He needs to be further evaluated. take care

Thanks for query,
Passing plenty of red blood cells in urine are common in urinary infection or due to kidney stones.
But passing free hemoglobin called haemoglobinurea is not common and if it is there then it should be evaluated.
Common conditions where haemoglobinurea is found are,
Sickle cell anemia,Acute nephritis,Tuberculosis,Thrombotic thrombocytic purpura,Malaria.
So consult physician and get investigated.
