Lactation Reduced, Baby's Weight Not Increasing, Advised Top Feed. Headaches After Having Motinorm. Is Lactare Better?
hello doc,
my age is 33 and my baby is one month and half old. my lactation has reudced than what it was at delivery. I delivered at 55kg and now my weight is 48 kg. since the baby's wt was not increasing as it shold have been,my paediatrician sugested to give alternate top feeds of 30ml. later i vis a breast feeding consultant who suggested MOTINORM 10mg tablets (DOMPERIDONE DISPERSIBLE TABS) ,2 tabs thrice a day. i had just taken one dose n i am now having headache since last nite. my query is:-
1. is this tab safe? is the recommended dosage ok?
2. is LACTARE tablet a better option?
3. if yes, what sould be the dosage?
HI Thank for asking to HCM Mam the medicine you are taking for lactation purpose is not mainly indicated for it, I personally say that this could be side effect of this drug that bring the lactation in mother, instead you can feed your baby every after 2 hours interval regardless whether baby is hungry or not, this method some time gives much good result than medicine, for top feeding try to give a top milk home prepared instead of giving commercially available product take care of your baby have nice day. (All mothers are very conscious for weight of their babies though babies are weighing in normal ranges )
