Last Week For About 5 Days I Had Extreme Sensitivity

Last week for about 5 days I had extreme sensitivity to my front lower gums and right lower gums. I'm certain it wasn't from over brushing. I noticed that my front gums seemed very light or had a white sheen were the lower, below gum surface would be. It was almost like my gums were translucent.

Should I go to my dentist? They don't feel nearly as bad as they did. I use a waterpik daily, I had to set the pulse to very low while my gums were hurting. sometimes I didn't use at all because of the sensitivity.
