Left Ear Keeps Popping. What Could It Mean ?

My left ear keeps popping no matter what I m doing & today I haven t even left my appt which is one level. So there was no extreme weather condition or change in altitude. What could it mean. I am a Hispanic female 32 & 15lbs over weight with a history of kidney stones , a removed gallbladder & 2 live births last 11yrs ago. Maybe this can help. YYYY@YYYY

Dear Concerned.,

Thanks for writing to us.

The ear drum keeps popping is due to the fact that the air trapped in your ears due to past ear infection or Nasopharyngits have not been cleared and there could be ??inflammatory adhesions in the Eustachean Tube ,a connection between your ear and pharynx which helps in equalising the air pressure between the middle ear cavity and the outside so that the ear drum functions normally.

Usually we doctors advise you to clear the Eustachean Catarrh by

A)Chewing a gum and the E.Tube Opens (B)Repeatedly Yawning(C)Swallowing one's own saliva(D)Blowing against the closed nostrils-Valsalva's Method.
Please do not use any OTC ear drops for your Ears as you may unknowingly introduce infection and compound the problem for yourself and your ENT Surgeon.

Kindly try these as well.

You may consult and ENT Surgeon for a Check up including Eustachean Endoscopic Clearance.

Your Weight//Kidney Stones//gall bladder removal//hispanic birth has nothing to do with your ears popping out.

Wishing you a quick recovery.,

Best Regards.,

Dr Lt Cdr ASN Bhushan.
