Left-sided Neck Pain, Swollen Lymph Nodes, Pain On Pressing, Raising Arms. Treatment Options?

Hi, my daughter is 12 years old and has been complaining of neck pain on her left side tonight. I felt there and can feel two swollen lymp nodes...not huge but noticable. It hurts when I push on them. It hurt her to raise her arms to brush her teeth . Wondering how concerned I should be. Trip to the doctor tomorrow or wait and see?

Hi,
I suggest you wait and see. Swollen lymph nodes are a common reaction to infection which may be, in your daughter's case, an ear infection or sore throat. When swollen these nodes can be painful when pressed because they are inflamed. Regarding the neck pain, this is possibly due to a muscle strain that she has experienced in her normal daily activities. I do not think the two are related. If the nodes remain enlared are 6 weeks, I suggest you see a doctor then.
