Little Milk Production From One Breast, Stopped Breast Feeding. Thick Blood Pours Out Vaginally. Reason?
I have had small amounts of milk that prodcues from one breast . I have had 2 childern and breast feed both for about 6 -8 months. I stopped breast feeding about 2 years ago... an still have milk production from one breast. Also, not sure if it connected but, my periods have been strange.. very thick blood that literally pours out when I go to the washroom. I am concerned becasue I asked my doctor and he mentioned something about my pituary gland and checking hormone levels...what does this mean?
Hi,
The various hormones secreted in the body by the different glands to perform several functions to ensure normal body function, are like a band of musicians while the pituitary gland is like the master coordinating every aspect. You should get a thorough gynecological examination performed to rule out any local causes for the excessive bleeding during the periods, added by a sonogram and blood tests including the hormonal profile. Since you have milk production, it is possible that your prolactin levels are high and this is why your doctor perhaps wanted to assess the condition of the pituitary. Take proper nutritional supplements and follow the advice of your doctor. Good luck.
