Lower Right Gum Pain, Radiating. Wisdom Tooth?

I woke up with horrible acute pain in my lower right side of my gums associated with my back tooth and now it's radiating into the bone a little as well. Is this my wisdom tooth or could this much pain start this quickly from just inflamed gums in a localized area (either from stuck food from last night or some other acute gum disease)?

It may be due to either wisdom tooth eruption or any other carious tooth nearby. it would be better if you show up yourself to some dentist soon. till that time you may take some painkiller and do luke warm saline rinses 3-4 times a day.

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

Since the pain radiates into bone, chances of pericoronitis due to impacted wisdom tooth is high in your case.

Grossly decayed tooth resulting in periapical infection also can lead into such condition.

A thorough clinical evaluation has to be done by a dentist and get decayed or impacted teeth extracted.

Teeth has to be restored if possible.

Meanwhile,maintain oral care.

Take care.

Hello & welcome,
Acute pain in your lower right side of gums which is associated with back tooth might be due to wisdom tooth with pericoronitis.

Pericoronitis is nothing but the infection & inflammation of soft tissue overlying wisdom tooth & is usually localized to that region only.

You need to visit your dentist, get clinically evaluated for proper diagnosis. X-ray can be done by your dentist to examine any underlying pathology associated with wisdom tooth.

Antibiotics might be necessary to treat the infection of soft tissue but that to be taken according your dentist's advise.

You should take care of maintaining oral hygiene specially to avoid secondary infection.

Regards.

Hi
As per your query, it seems that you have impacted wisdom tooth which is causing pain.
Inflammation of flap covering wisdom tooth causes pain(pericoronitis).
Sometimes sharp particle of food gets lodged in between teeth or impinges in gum causing acute pain.
So you need a thorough clinical evaluation .
Maintain oral hygiene and use floss for cleaning in between teeth.

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

The cause for acute pain could be an impacted wisdom teeth. The tissues covering the teeth acts like a pouch and accumulates food debris there.

upon bacterial multiplication, on decayed food debris and infection the pain arises.it may contain pus too.

Therefore i would like to suggest you to visit your dentist and get yourself examined.

An x ray can be very helpful in establishing better diagnosis.

Meanwhile please do antiseptic mouth rinsing and warm saline rinses.

Hope this helps.

Thanks.

Take care.
