Lump At The Base Of Skull, Flares Up, Soreness, Headache, Hair Follicle Diagnosed. Advise?
I have a small lump at the base of my skull at the back right side. Sometimes it is not noticeable nor is it easy to find but sometimes, like now it flares up and becomes sore around the area and causes a headache. Very similar to a sinus headache, leading from the lump around the temple and to the right eye. I have mentioned it to my gp and they said it could be a hair follicle, and it would go away in due time. this problem has been a regular recurring problem for near on two years now, and thought I better seek some advice before taking this to my gp again.
Hi, It may be sebaceous cyst that is intermittently becoming infected and flaring up. This would cause localised tenderness and pain that may spread to the surrounding tissues. It is not serious but, clearly it is unpleasant for you. A surgeon may consider it worth removing which would only be a minor operation.
