Lump Behind The Knee. Has Got Bigger, Redder And Oozes Puss. Is It A Cyst? Treatment?
I've had a small lump behind my knee for a few years now. I've always been able to feel it, but it's never caused pain, changed in size or color. 3 days ago the lump became bigger, has redness surrounding it and began to hurt. When I looked at it tonight it looked like it had an actual point "pimple head" on it. I squeezed it with tissue and immediately white/yellow discharge came out with a horrible smell. I laid down and my husband applied pressure and more discharge came out, no blood. He squeezed until no more came out but there still wasn't blood, or any leftover mark on the skin of where the discharge was coming from. Obviously now I have a bit more pain in the area. Should I put something on it? Would it be a cyst?
After few blood tests, he may give antibiotics and antiinflammatory drugs to relieve secondary bacterial infection.
After control of infection, it may be excised under local anaesthesia.
And you may be alright.
I hope you got my answer.
Thanks.
