Lump In Arm Pit Area, Getting Bigger. Gynecologists Suggest Stored Fat. Should I Conduct Any Tests?

HI I am a 51year old female. I have a large lump in my arm pit area. My friends notice it and enquire as to what it is. My Genocologist just looked at it and said that it was stored fat. The problem is I am not fat. I weigh 98lbs. The lump seams to be getting larger actually going down toward my breast. I think that I should have a Doctor test it, but what kind of Doctor should I see, or do I need to get a referral.

Hi and thanks for this query.

Given your age and the concerning size of this lump, please get it investigated. It could actually represent a lymphadenopathy and i would love to see that it is investigated and proven non harmful and not representing any ongoing pathological process than simply disregarded as non harmful. It is best to seek another doctor's opinion on it. Consult with a different OBGYN and hear what they say. It could still be simple but i want to keep that as the last possibility and not the first. In medicine we start by considering what could be of harm that what isn't harmful.

Hope you find this helpful and informative. If you have ore questions, we'v got answers. Keep them coming.
I wish you the best of health.
