Lump In The Calf For Years And Sudden Formation Of Pussy And Little Bloody Holes In Thighs. What Should Be Done?

My husband had a lump on his calf for years that he called a hematoma, a year ago, a hole formed on his thigh that oozed out pus, white "starchy" looking pieces and a little blood, on and off. Since then another hole has formed and oozed and a third one is about to break open. It doesn't really hurt him, except when he's squeezing the pus out, and his calf is almost down to its regular size. We believe it's healing, but I'm worried about the holes, one is about 1 cm

Hi,

I can understand your concern for the Lump in the calf for years and sudden formation of pussy and little bloody holes in thigh of your husband.

It appears from your query that your husband has a "sebaceous cyst" which now got infected.

Do not try to even touch or pinch the area as can cause more aggravation of the problem and spread of the infection.

For time being period you can apply antibiotic cream such as fucidin or mupirocin and take pain killer tablets such diclofenac or paracetamol.

If it is increasing despite the treatment then meet a dermatologist or any family physician and get a proper treatment without delay for the oral antibiotic such as ciprofloxacin or cefadroxyl 500 mg two times a day for 5 days to prevent secondary infection.

You should meet a dermatologist or a surgeon for excision of the cyst.
