mri report...l3/l4 mild disc bulge without canal stenosis or neural foraminal narrowing. mild facet hypertrophy bilaterally. disc space narrowing and desiccation . anterior/ superior endplate limbus changes at l4. l4/l5 minimal disc bulge flatttens the ventral thecal sac without canal stenosis. no neural foraminal narrowing. l5/s1 left paracentral 3mm disc protrusion encroaches upon the left lateral recess contacting the ventral left descending s1 nerve root without displacement. no canal stenosis, no neural foraminal compromise.
There is central spinal canal behind vertebral bodies containing multiple nerves.
The Foramen (foraminal) are like small holes though which these nerves comes out to reach to your limbs.
When there any extrinsic pressure on nerves there is pain.
The Discs are jelly material in pouch between two vertebrae, with age the water content decreases(called as degenerative desiccative changes) and this material comes out of the pouch (called at protrusion) and put pressure on nerve- causing pain.
