MRI Of Cervical Spine Done. What Does Findings Suggest?

mri cervical spine degenerative signal loss of cervical disos most marked from c3 down to c7 with narrowing of the lower three levels .small posterior indentations on the sac at these levels due to disc/osteophytes but none of these compress on cord .at most there is minimal loss of the 4/5 level ,where there is associated bony narrowing of the nerve root canals, severe on the right and somewhat more moderate on the left .tight bony narrowing on the right and left 5/6nerve root canals with more moderate narrowing of the contra=lateral sides .minor bilateral bony narrowing of the 6/7 nerve root canals .there was considerable patient movement during this examimation somewhat degrading the images .the apparent abnormal high signal domonsrated within the cord is due to artefact only .there is no sign of cord pathology .

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Your findings suggest that you have age related degenerative changes of spine mostly from C3-C7 level.
There is posterior indentation of thecal sac due to osteophytes/bulged disc and these osteophytes/bulged disc are also related to degenerative changes in spine. Indentation of thecal sac is not causing compressive effect on spinal cord.
At C5-6 level, due to osteophytes/bulged disc there is narrowing of nerve roots canal, more on right side.
Mild bilateral narrowing of nerve roots canal is noted at C6-7 level.
There is some movement of patient during MRI procedure and this leads to degradation of images.
Hope you have understand the terms.
