MRI Showed Dark Shadow Toward Top Of Tibia. Scans Are TI And T2, Shadow In All Planes View Unrelated To Current Injury. Ideas?
An mri i recently had for a knee problem has shown a dark shadow approx 2 cm x 1 cm x 1 cm toward the top of my tibia. The scans are both T1 & T2 and the shadow is consistent in all planes of view. The location of the shadow is in no relation to my current injury. The scans were carried out in a 3rd world country where the report was specific to my knee only. Should I get a second opinion?
There are many structures in the knee joint other than bones. The knee joint is supported by medial and lateral collateral ligament, meniscus and anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments as you might be aware. it is difficult to image without the image what it the black area you have mentioned. Being 2x1x1cm it is big enough not to be missed by our doctor. You may request a talk with the reporting doctor and if declined, could get a second opinion on the same.
Hope this helps
