Meaning Of Hypoechoic Tubular Structures That Do Not Show Dilation?
Hello Dr, I had a recent ultrasound after suspected miscarraige, I think I understand most of the results and will be having a follow up US in 2 weeks to check for pregnancy progression. However one of the findings I am unsure about the statement reads "Prominent venous channel is noted in the right adnexum measuring up to 4mm. In the left adnexum, there are hypoechoic tubular structures that do not show dilation with valsalva, ?hydrosalpinx or thrombosed adnexal veins. There is no tenderness on transducer pressure." What does this mean?
Hello, Increased perfusion of the pelvic vessels is a feature of pregnancy. Your sonogram states that your right tubo-ovarian region shows dilated or prominent vein while on the left side, the findings are not so clear. The structures observed have shown no dilation or pain on pressure. The sonographer has opined to clarify between a tubal block with retention of fluid inside the tube (hydrosalpinx) or dilated veins which have thrombosed or got occluded. Please consult your doctor for further opinion. Take care.
