I received a print out of MRI results looking for Acoustic Neuroma. IMPRESSION reads: No acute intracranial abnormality or evidence of cerebellopontine angle mass and Mild chronic microangiopathic signal changes within supratentorial white matter. I am a 63 years old female with tinnitus. What does all this mean. My mother had Alzheimers so the white matter part has me concerned even though that s not what they were looking for.
There is slightly decreased blood flow to the brain in certain areas. This can be seen in advancing age and also in people having diabetes or hypertension. The clinical symptoms need to be correlated with the microangiopathic changes by doing a complete clinical examination. There is no need to worry as it is not an emergency condition. Medications may be taken to decrease the progress of this condition.
