Medical Advice Towards Consultation Of Endocrinologist For Treatment For Acne

I am 38 and have problem with acne. I have tried just about everything to get the breakouts under control. Currently I am using tazarac and clinamycin lotion. I believe I have hormonal acne, bc the problem first worsen during my pregnancy 10 years ago and I haven't been able to get rid of it. Someone told me that I should talk to an Endocrinologists, to see if they can help with this imbalance. Would talking an endrocrinologist be appropriate?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have acne which seems to occur which occurs when there are hormonal changes in your body. It could be due to clogged pores which gets filled with sebum ,dead skin and bacteria get infected. I would suggest you to wash your face daily with cold water and face wash containing salycylic acid twice a day and apply cream containing azelac acid which is good for acne as well as marks . Apply aloe vera gel at night . If condition doesn't get well in a week then consult endocrinologist/ gynecologist/ dermatologist for proper examination and treatment. You should get your hormone levels monitored. Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like minocyclin, steroid ointment and may recommend chemical peeling for marks .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
