Migraines, Buzzing In Head. Taken Propranolol. Advise?
I have suffered from migraines 25+ years. I have taken different doses of propranolol to lessen frequency & severity (20 mg BID currently). About 6 months ago my migraines have worsened. Recently, about last 2 weeks, I have an almost constant "buzzing/humming" in my head. It's hard for me to explain....during the day it doesn't effect me as much, but at night when it's quiet, this buzzing seems loud and I know it effects my sleep. This is now a concern for me. My PCP recently relocated and I am currently on a waiting list for a new doctor - I am told the wait will be 6+ months. Is there any information you can give me? Other than migraines I consider my self a healthy 52 yr old female. I am not over weight. THANK YOU, Cynthia
Hi there, thanks for asking. The humming you are experiencing is actually tinnitus. Tinnitus can be experienced with taking some medications like aspirin, propranolol or some antidepressants. The best way is to decrease the dose of your medication or switch it to another medication for the prevention of the migraine. I wish you a good health.
