Mild Chest Pain, Pain From Chest To Neck Occasionally. Can Combiflam Help?

A woman aged 50 came back home after a vacation at a sea beach. She experienced mild chest pain after waking up the night after. She continues to do her daily chores normally but occassionally complained of the pain on the upper left side of her chest spanning upto the left portion of the neck. Can an anti-inflammatory medicine like combiflam be given as there are no sever symptoms. Please advice

Welcome to HealthCareMagic. My name is Doctor Saleem Ur Rehman. And I will answer your question.

The location of her pain, and her age, are indicative of risk for cardiac involvement. If the pain is dull and compressing in nature and occurs while she is working and/or is accompanied by dizziness, sweating or breathlessness it will further reinforce the involvement of heart. In such a case, Combifalm will not be helpful.

If I were her doctor, I would ask her to elaborate the history of her pain. Then if I would order an EKG to look at her cardiac function, and a Chest X-ray to look at any trauma she may have suffered during her vacation. Then, if it were a cardiac problem, I would order an Exercise Tolerance Test, before managing her for cardiac problem.

So, it is recommended that she consult a doctor in person for investigations and treatment. Meanwhile, you may give her combiflam. If it doesnt help, she should see her doctor as soon as possible. Because she will need further evaluation and most heart-related durgs are not OTC.

Wishing you Good Luck. May she have a healthy life soon.
