I Ws dignosed with PCOD 10 yr ago. i sufferd frm irregular mesurations. taking yamini ( contaceptive pill ) from last 4 yrs. BUT in month of April 2013 i kept on missing and delaying my pill ... so i hardly get my periods .. i hv put on weight 3 kgs in a month... i m out of my country so cant consult my gynac. i m worried. what to do?? i m so tensed.
PCOD is one of the most common causes of irregular periods and problems conceiving. In women who are not trying to conceive, oral contraceptives can be used to normalise the periods.
The irregularity of your periods would be due to the missed doses of contraception, though if you are sexually active you may want to rule out pregnancy. If pregnancy is ruled out then you can restart the pill.
In terms of the weight, modifying the diet can help you to lose the weight gained. The weight loss may also help regularise the periods (part of PCOS management is lifestyle changes which include weight loss).
