Motion Sickness, Nausea While Driving. Prescribed Prochlorperazine, No Relief. Treatment?
Hello, i recently went abroad and on the taxi transfere from the hotel to the airport i began to feel very car sick this sickness stayed with me for the entire day i was not sick but constantly had the urge to vomit . 1 month later and im still feeling like this all the time. i dont want to leave my house and i cant drive my car due to feeling so sick. sometimes i think im going to be sick get to the toilet and the feeling has gone. i have been prescribed prochlorperazine 5mg 3 times a day this is not helping ?
I understand your concern; motion sickness can be very disturbing. It can be treated by medication and some slight modifications during travel.
As far as medications are concerned, since prochlorperazine thrice a day is not helping, we may switch over to alternate antiemetic drugs like prokinetic agents or diphenhydramine or even antimuscarinic (scapolamine) can be tried. Some of these drugs are available as transdermal patches and these patches release drug gradually and are better effective.
Apart from the medications other modifications include not eating a heavy meal before travel, avoiding junks and oily/greasy food before travel; reading a book, focusing at a single object during travel, etc are known to prevent motion sickness.
Hope this helps.
Regards
