Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My 4 year old daughter had a x-ray of her adenoids. The results show that her adenoids are moderate enlarged. She has trouble sleeping at night, she breaths thru her mouth at night time and she gets sore throats almost every Two months. Would you recommend her to have her adenoids taken
Were I treating her, I would prefer to give her a trial of intranasal corticosteroid sprays and montelukast with levocetirizine for a few weeks. Also, I would test her for allergies and if she is allergic to particular substance, I would suggest yo avoid it.
If this can help, removal of adenoids can be avoided.
Adenoids are part of a child's immune system and hence efforts should be made to preserve them if possible. However, if necessary, they have to be removed as suggested by an ENT specialist.
Hope above answer will be helpful to you.
Thank you & Regards.
