My 93 Year Old Mother Was Given The Drug Geodon

My 93 year old mother was given the drug Geodon recently and then fell. She had surgery for the broken hip and now is in a different nursing home where the medical staff is now monitoring her meds more carefully. Why would a dr prescribe Geodon? Will my mother regain some of her functions ? I realize that with Alzheimers disease, she is in declining health, but what can be done to help my mom function.....?
