My Husband Had Heart Attack Now He Wont Do Anything, Please Help Him
My Husband Had Heart Attack Now He Won't Do Anything He Is Supposed To...? He has two stents. He won t get out of bed. He won t eat right. He won t take pills same time every day. I am his slave. I m not supposed to bug him. I m not supposed to care about watching him kill himself. I m going nuts trying to keep good energy and not be upset. My insides are raging. Help.
Hi,
To give you some back ground on me, I had a heart attack a little more than 3 years ago; and I have a stent in my heart as well. My heart attack was fairly severe I'm told, I lost 40% of my heart's function; but it is what it is. It's what we do after the attack that's the true test of who we are.
We all take the realization that we are no longer invincable in different ways. Trust me it's hard to swallow. It sounds to me that your husband is scared and as a result giving up the fight. He's putting the ball in your court to take care of him, so he doesn't have to face it. He probably feels he's been dealt a bad hand.
By nature I'm a fighter. The best advice I received while in the hospital was from one of my doctors aides. She simply said, " do as we prescribed or die. It's up to you, change your lifestyle or it will kill you. You don't have a choice if you want to live a few more years." So I did. I lost 50 pounds, stopped eating salt and fats; and I take my meds regularly. The result is I feel great, and I live a very active lifestyle.
My recommendation to you is to tell your husband how you feel. I believe truth is power. You're his wife, not his slave. You have a life to live, just like him. Tell him to do as the doctor said or die. Believe me taking your meds daily at the same time, eating right, and daily exercise are key to your recovery. It's really not hard to do.
I'm luck, I'm doing well. Your husband can too, it's really not that hard. We can live relatively long and very productive lives. We just need to make a few realtively easy changes.
Please know that I'm not trying to tell what to do. I'm just trying to show what happened to a guy like your husband.
I hope my story helps.
Good Luck and God Bless.
