My Daughter Used A Harsh Facial Cleanser That Dried Her

My daughter used a harsh facial cleanser that dried her face out horribly. Her cheeks were red and inflamed and we have since purchased soap free, sensitive skin cleansers and moisturizer. The redness was patchy at first and yesterday was a pink glow. Today the initial red blotchiness has turned to brown spots. She looks like a giraffe. Any suggestions on what this might be and if it will go away on its own?
