My Father Who Is 76 And Very Healthy For His

My father who is 76 and very healthy for his age was diagnosed with shingles 2 weeks ago by an internal medicine MD. It is directly above his right eye but not so far as in the eyebrow at all but just above that. He was put on antibiotics, not antivirals, and given nothing else even though it is very painful still. He has seen this MD two times in 2 weeks with no changes in treatment at all from the 1st visit. I'm worried about eye damage or nerve damage that will leave him in pain for much longer than necessary. What do I do and do I get him in to an eye doctor right now? This is his 1st outbreak and he is still taking the antibiotics from his 1st MD visit 2 weeks ago. He takes no other meds at all and all bloodwork from a checkup 6 months ago-CBC and chem workup-showed all levels within normal range. He has not had any blood drawn since 6 months ago. Please advise and Thank You for the service you provide.
